Savannah Sperlazza currently serves as the Principal at Stoner-Thomas School, a public-separate school serving students with significant disabilities ages 5-22 in Lexington, NC. Savannah resides in Clemmons, NC with her high school sweetheart, Scott, and their boys: Larson, Brody, and Teddy! Savannah graduated with her undergraduate degree in Special Education: Adapted & General Curriculum in 2013 from Western Carolina University. She served in various secondary EC Teacher roles from 2013-2022 with Lexington City Schools, Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools, and Davidson County Schools. Savannah began her journey to becoming a leader in Special Education in 2021 when she began her Master’s of Educational Leadership at Salem College. During this time, she joined the district-level transition team in WS/FCS as she had the opportunity to have a bird’s eye experience of serving and supporting principals, teachers, and students across the district. Upon completion of her masters program & obtaining her administration license, Savannah pursued her dream of becoming the principal at Stoner-Thomas School in summer 2023.

Shalana Pennix, Assistant Principal

Shalana Pennix is the Assistant Principal at Stoner-Thomas School, where she brings a wealth of experience and a passion for supporting students with significant needs, particularly those with autism. Before joining the leadership team, Shalana served as an instructional coach and compliance case manager, where she supported teachers in delivering high-quality, individualized instruction.

Shalana’s background also includes serving as a district-level autism coach in Loudoun County Public Schools, where she provided specialized support and training for staff working with students with complex learning and behavioral needs. She holds a Master’s degree in Special Education with a certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis from George Mason University, a Master’s in Marriage and Family Counseling from Liberty University, and most recently, she completed her School Administration program at High Point University.

With a servant leadership style that is both positive and deeply engaging, Shalana is committed to building strong relationships, empowering educators, and creating a supportive school culture that helps every student thrive.
